Activities of the Society for the Year 2006-2007

 
1.

Health Camp was organized this year by our Society where specialist doctors gave their advice and discussed with the local people the various measures taken for prevention of diseases. They were also taught the symptom of various contagious diseases. Various rules of first Aid was also discussed. The Health camp was a real success as a huge number of local people took part in the camp. Medicines were distributed free of cost. Family planning awareness was also discussed and Tubectomy and Vasectomy operations were also conducted by eminent doctors.

2.

To repairing charges of houses of poor people: Our Society undertook the most important work of repairing houses of the poor people. The thatched houses were given tarpaulin sheaths and the doors and windows were repaired. Repair work was specially done in those houses where the living conditions were difficult in the rainy season. The broken earthen rook tiles were replaced with new ones. We also helped in fencing the boundaries.

3.

Drug Abuse Awareness Camp was organized this year where the Youths were shown the ill effects of taking drugs. We also tries to teach them methods to prevent and abuse them.

Apart from the health camps an Anti Dowry Camp was organized this year. The humiliation of motherhood by taking dowry was also discussed took part and were benefited by our discussion.

The fishery expenses: Our Society also encouraged the needy persons to increase their means of livelihood by fishery. The spares of various kind of hybrid fishes were provided which was not only highly proteinaceous but also of an extremely good variety. The food for the fishes was also given. Those farmers who were interested in fishing but did not lave any ponds were helped by men to dig ponds and culture fishes.

Awareness Camp on Malaria also took place. The use of Penicillin and Quinoline was also taught. We taught them to keep their locality clean and prevent the formation of stagnant waters. We asked them to fill up the gutters by soiling them symptoms of the disease was also discussed. Use of odomos cream and mosquito repellants were also taught.

Cholera Awareness Camp was also organized this year. Drinking of clean filtered water was also discussed methods of eradication of the disease were taught to the locals. The use of ORS was also discussed. The drugs for cholera treatment was also distributed free of cost.

T.B. awareness camp was also organized this year. We explained to the locals that it was fully curable and there was nothing to worry. Each and have every hospital even at the block level have medicines for the cure of T.B. It is not a dreaded disease but a fully curable one if medicines are taken regularly. Intake of healthy food along with vitamin, minerals were discussed.

An Exhibition took place where the locals exhibited their handicrafts. The women took keen interest in bringing forth their handicrafts. This not only increased their morale but also gave them financial help.

Last but not the least we organized this year cultural functions as this is also a part of our society and culture. The local people very enthusiastically took party in the cultural programmes. Dances, Songs, Poetry, Folk culture was highlighted by the local. ‘Prizes’ were also distributed to the best performer.

Waste and Development & agriculture on that land is our special attention.

Livestock was also donated to the poor. Goats, Hens, hybrid disease resistant varieties of pigs was also distributed. We also taught them the new methods of rearing and earning their livelihood. Production of milk by shankar cows was also taught. Prevention of diseases of cattle by using vaccines was also taught. Veterinary medicines were also distributed free of cost.

a. Goatery expenses for the poor: By implementation of this programme we tried to make the poor people self employed. We tried to instill among them a sense of self pride by making them financially sound. First of all we made a list of beneficiaries who were very poor and also interested in rearing goats. We not only distributed the best quality of goats but also helped them by making a shed. We vaccinated them and also provided them with medicines. We gave them knowledge of some veterinarians residing nearby. We not only provided each beneficiary with one male and two female goat, but also provided antihelminthic medicines. We insured the goats so that by any chance if they happened to die they would got back the full amount. We asked them to keep their neat and clean.

b. Poultry for the poor: We set up small poultry farms for the poor interested beneficiaries. We distributed the topmost hybrid variety species of chicks and hens. The knowledge of rearing poultry was given to them. The chicks were vaccinated. We asked them to keep the sheds neat and clean. We also distributed medicine.

c. Piggery expenses for the poor: we distributed hybrid varieties of pig. (The variety which is considered the best). This is just a step forward in helping the poor people to increase their source of livelihood.

Marriage expenses were also done for some poor girls whose parents could not afford. We also gave financial help in marriage of some orphan girls.

To provide clothes for poor: We helped the poor and downtrodden by giving them one of the basic needs of life ic clothes. The poorest of the poor, who did not have clothes, were giving clothes to their utter thanks giving.

Mother & Child care seminar was also held where we discussed maternal and child health. A healthy baby would only come from healthy mother. Free distributions of iron tablets to pregnant mothers were also done. Healthy foods to infants were also discussed as they are the future of our society.

16.

Forest Awareness Camp was organized this year where we planted Sal trees at the sides of roads. Bring about a green revolution and Green India should be our target. Prevention of cutting down of trees for fuel was also discussed. Knowledge on soil erosion by cutting down of forests was also explained.

Education expenses: We also helped the poor orphan children with education we gave them books free of cost and gave their education fee. Poor but meritorious students.

18.

Distributed Shops of Unemployed: The shops were constructed for those unemployed youth who wanted to earn their livelihood by doing various businesses. They provided their land and we constructed shops for them. This not only encouraged their mentality to do something but helped them put one step forward for being self-dependent. We give them cash for doing business as starting capital of the business.

Dances, songs, poetry, folk, cultures were highlighted by the locals. Prizes were also distributed to the best performers.

Wasteland Development & Agriculture Expenses: We work in many places in Wasteland Development in Jhargram Subdivision. Many many poor cultivated family benefited in our program.

Dairy Donate Expenses: Dairy- We have target for helping with financial assistance to our selected beneficiaries to establish Dairy Farm for enhancing milk product and marketing in best processes production of cheese, Butter and simultaneously, the existing environmental geographical condition of the proposed area. The dairy scheme will be suitable for upgrading the financial structure by self-employment to lowest income group. Necessary training will also be conducted to the selected beneficiaries. For the purpose there are sufficient demand of milk and made product but supply of the same not up to the mark.

Village Link Road Expenses: We Make many village link road & many village road repairing in Villages:- Barabankata, Chhoto bankata, Lakshmi Sagar, Under Dharsa Gram Panchyet and Sonahara, Satpati, Mamurda, Guiara under 2 No Parihati Gram Panchyet in Jamboni Block, Jhargram Subdivision, District-West Midnapore.

HIV Awareness Programme: We organized many Awareness program me in sector of HIV/AIDs program me, with Doctor and health worker, we discussed what is HIV and What is AIDs, How protect the HIV/AIDs. Many villages in Jamboni Block, Binpur II Block, Binpur I Block, Jhargram Block, Nayagrmme Block, Gopiballavpur I & II Block, Sankrail Block, under Jhargram Subdivision, in West Midnapore District, State- West Bengal.
